The Fredericton Marathon and East Coast Music Awards are set to strike the right chord in May 2022 by conducting a special 8k (5 miler) race on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

“Music and running definitely go hand in hand,” said Christine Little & Bruce Macfarlane, co-race directors of the Fredericton Marathon. “And we couldn’t think of a better way to commemorate the East Coast Music Awards and the Fredericton Marathon taking place on the same weekend in the capital city than by hosting a special race.”

The 8k (5-miler) run/walk will occur at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, along the Lincoln and Nashwaak trails, beginning at the Lady Beaverbrook Arena and crossing the picturesque Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to mark our two events” says Andy McLean, CEO of the East Coast Music Association. “This is very inline with our health and wellness programs at ECMA, knowing full well the benefits both exercise and music bring to us. We are looking forward to running alongside the marathon in May.”

The Fredericton Marathon has always wanted to conduct an 8k event and the volunteer organizing committee decided this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce the special distance to the running community.
