Two new records and two new courses stole the spotlight at the 𝟰𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗰𝗞𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻.
Despite Sunday’s downpour, marathoners, half marathoners, and 10K runners took on the city’s bridges, streets, and trails — while Saturday’s 5K participants and kids of all ages filled downtown Fredericton. In total, 𝟯,𝟲𝟳𝟭 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 were registered across the weekend.
Saturday’s Evisitnb 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝟱𝗞 delivered fireworks of its own. Forty elite athletes raced two loops of the downtown core, and 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗹:
𝗘𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘁 (Sweets Corner, NS) set a new women’s record in 16:39, smashing her own 17:27 mark from last year’s inaugural race.
𝗛𝘂𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗺𝘀𝗵𝗮𝘄 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 (Central Chebogue, NS) clocked a blistering 14:01, beating the previous 14:28 record set by Mike Tate (London, ON).
Nearly $𝟴,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 was awarded to the top four elite women and top four elite men, along with recognition for the two new course records. The EVisitNB Elite 5K remains the only race east of Quebec City included in the 2026 Athletics Canada Road Race Label program.
This year also introduced a new 10K course and relocated the Trites Orthodontics Youth Fun Run to Queen Street and Officers’ Square — bringing even more energy into the heart of downtown.
Keep an eye out for registration details for May 2027.
A huge thank you to every participant, volunteer, sponsor/partner, and supporter who helped make the 48th annual Stewart McKelvey Fredericton Marathon.

Hard to believe that the 2025 Fredericton Marathon race weekend is almost here.
Due to the high number of participants and potential congestion on the trails during the first portion of the race, the start format for Sunday May 11 is being adjusted.
NOW OPEN!! Registration for the 47th annual Stewart McKelvey Fredericton Marathon race weekend.
A NEW revised marathon route, NO fee increases, an Early bird discount, staggered Sunday start times and special 5k routes are all lined up to help get you to the May 9-11, 2025 race weekend.
“Our newly revised marathon route will see 42.2k participants use a portion of our city’s northside trail system never used by the race and a return to Sunday staggered starts will help alleviate congestion on the trails for all participants,” said Christine Little and Bruce Macfarlane, co-race directors.
Policies such as refund, transfers, NO deferrals, NO Sunday Race Day kit pick-up and children and youth-age road racing policies for the 2025 Fredericton Marathon race weekend can be found on to the Policies page.
THANK YOU to everyone for making this year’s 2024 King Street Pharmacy Run for the Shelters a success by participating, volunteering, sponsoring, donating or supporting the event.
The Fredericton Marathon volunteer organizing committee knows mistakes were made during Sunday’s portion of the event – we sincerely apologize to all of the affected participants.
After cleaning up from Sunday’s event, the marathon committee started reaching out to the 21.1k and 42.2k finishers to issue a formal apology and explain the mistake. Emails have been (and are still being) sent directly to those participants. Be sure to check your junk/spam folders.
If you have been affected by this unfortunate mistake, you can email your name, contact information and bib number to registrar@frederictonmarathon.com. Please do so even if you have already emailed us your concerns.
This year, for safety reasons, the Youth Fun Run is moving to the city’s Northside and will take place at the Nashwaaksis Middle School Track on Saturday, May 11th, at 2:00 pm.
“Ensuring everyone’s safety is paramount, which is why we made the decision to relocate the popular Youth Fun Run,” said Bruce Macfarlane and Christine Little, co-race directors of the Fredericton Marathon.
Moving the Youth Fun Run to the Northside track will provide a more secure area to host the 500 metre and one kilometre event for children, parents, organizers, and volunteers.
Parents/guardians will be required to pick up their child’s race shirt and bib at the marathon’s Race Kit Pick-Up at Delta Hotels by Marriott Fredericton.
“We understand that this move may be a little inconvenient, but we want to make certain everyone is off the streets and safe,” said Macfarlane and Little. The TritesOrtho Youth Fun Run is open to children two-12 years of age, features 500 metre and one kilometre events, and costs $8.75 plus taxes and fees.
